This is a valid point to be dissected and discussed. I think the difference between the Ground Zero Mosque (a misleading name) and the Koran burning are several, and worth noting. The concern with Pastor Jones' actions are not that he should be banned from doing it. He certainly can. One of the unfortunate parts of defending the Constitution is that you always wind up having to defend it for the nutjobs and pornographers and zealots Generic Tadacip. The concern is that it's stupid. Really stupid. Can you burn a US flag at an NRA meeting? Sure. But it's stupid. Can you wear a white hood into Harlem? Yes, you can, stupid. Being stupid isn't a crime, nor is it un-Constitutional. The pastor's words bear his stupidity out; he's purposefully antagonizing Islam at a historical juncture that needs more Islam-Western World tension like we need a hole in the head.To compare, is the building of an Islamic center near the WTC site un-Constitutional buy Tadacip? Certainly not. Is it stupid? Well, there's the rub. Are some people going to see the area around the WTC site as hallowed ground? Yes. Do some people hate the Islamic world as a whole for the 9/11 attacks? Absolutely. Was the intent of the construction of the Islamic Center in Lower Manhattan to antagonize the West? That's not clear at all. NYC is incredibly diverse and multi-cultural buy Tadacip, and could serve as a model as a place where million of Jews and Muslims co-exist and worship in the same city without building walls or needing to blow one another up or burn the other guy's Holy Book on television. Pastor Jones wants another Crusade. Sensible folks see the obvious reprecussions of his dog-and-pony show. There's a war on. And you're Allah's foot soldiers buy Generic Tadacip." Can he do it? He sure can. Should he? Of course not; it's stupid. An Islamic Center in Lower Manhattan would have the reverse effect. "The West hates us, class. Except for the thousands of mosques across the US, including this new one they're building two blocks from the WTC. But they really do hate us. Really."
Interesting side note: both Secretary Clinton and President Obama voted against flag burning ammendents in 2006 when they were Democratic Senators ... rightly, in my view ... however ...
I'm sorry Tadacip 20mg. What, exactly, have Obama, Olbermann, etc. said to indicate that the members of this church have no constitutional right to burn a Qu'ran? You've not provided any quotes to indicate Obama's position on either of those questions (though the answer to the first one is an obvious yes). If Obama's said that he feels they should not do this, either on plain moral grounds or on the basis that it may spark more terrorist attacks buy Tadacip, that's a response to an entirely separate question than the question of whether the community center near Ground Zero should be built. Except, haha, on like a fourth read I've just realized that all your talk about what Obama said and what other leading political figures said about what Obama doesn't mean that the rest of your comment is about Obama and those political figures Tadacip 20mg. I thought you needed to cite some quotations by Obama & Co. to indicate what their actual individual positions on this Qu'ran burning thing are. I just realized that you're taking the existence of this one article on Slate to mean that every single liberal politician out there thinks the same way this article-writer does. And then misreading the article to think it's saying these guys don't have a constitutional right to burn the books. That's hilarious.
